Counselling/ therapy is a confidential & collaborative process that involves a trained professional who provides support and guidance to help you navigate through challenges and enhance your well-being. It happens through the following phases :

  • Initial Assessment- This step usually takes 1-2 sessions, but varies based on your problem, situations, mindsets and rapport building. The counsellor tries to help you build rapport with them in order to build trust and be more open to the process. Additionally, by gathering information about your concerns, background, and goals, a foundational understanding about your unique situation is established.

  • Goal Setting: Together with the counselor, you identify specific goals and objectives for counseling. These goals serve as a roadmap for the therapeutic process.

  • Exploration and Insight: In sessions, you discuss thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related to your concerns. I will help you gain insights into patterns, triggers, and underlying issues contributing to your challenges.

  • Skill Building: I often teach coping strategies, communication skills, and other practical tools to help you manage stress, navigate relationships, and address specific issues.

  • Feedback and Reflection: Throughout the process, feedback is provided, and reflections are shared to enhance self-awareness and promote personal growth.

  • Homework or Assignments: Depending on the therapeutic approach, I usually assign homework or suggest activities to reinforce learning and apply new skills between sessions.

  • Progress Evaluation: Periodically, you and the counselor assess progress toward your goals. Adjustments to the counseling plan may be made based on your evolving needs and achievements.

Termination or Transition: When you and your counselor agree that your goals have been met, or you’ve gained the necessary skills, the counseling relationship may conclude. This can involve discussing strategies for maintaining progress independently or planning for future check-ins if needed.

Important Notes:

•Confidentiality: What is shared in counseling is typically confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions.

•Non Judgmental: The process of counselling is non-judgmental in nature and i always try to see your problems from your perspectives , considering your past, current environment, and situations.

•Active Participation: Successful counseling often involves active participation and commitment to the process.

•Counselor’s Role: Counselors serve as guides, facilitators, and supporters, fostering a collaborative environment.

Remember, the specific details of counseling can vary based on the counselor’s approach, your goals, and the nature of your concerns. Communication with your counselor about your preferences and concerns is essential for a successful therapeutic experience.
